Common Notes for Low Smoke and Halogen-free Cables
1. The application range of low smoke halogen free cable
Low smoke halogen free cable is suitable for subway, high-rise buildings, shopping malls, theatres, power stations, chemical factories, city squares and other public utilities with rated AC voltage of 0.6/1kv and below. These occasions require high requirements for the flame retardant properties of cables. When the fire occurs, the low smoke halogen free cable with slow spread speed and low smoke concentration emission allows high visibility and small harmful gas release and easy evacuation. The combustion gas is less corrosive, and the damage to the equipment is also avoided. The low-smoke halogen-free cable material greatly improve the resistance to aging, ultraviolet rays and other radiation, thereby prolonging the service life of the cable.
2. Low smoke halogen free cables can be classified into two sorts: flame-retardant and fire-resistant.
According to the test conditions specified in GB/T18380.3-2002, there are four flame retardant grades of low smoke halogen free cable: A, B, C, D.
3. The use of low smoke halogen free cables
(1) The rated voltage UO/U of the power cable is 0.6/1KV, and the rated voltage UO/U of the control cable is 450/750v;
(2) The long-term allowable working temperature of the cable must under 90°c;
(3) The ambient temperature during installation should not be higher than 0°C.;
(4) The minimum bending radius during cable installation: low smoke halogen free flame-retardant, fire-resistant control cables and cables with no armor layer should not be less than 6 times the outer diameter of the cables. Cables with armored or copper tape shielding should not be less than 12 times the outer diameter of the cables.
