How to Determine the Quality of Electrical Power Cables?

Electrical power cables are important products related to people's livelihood. If inferior electrical power cables are used, they can cause fires and electric shock accidents. Especially during house decoration, cables and wires are often buried in poorly ventilated environments such as ceilings, walls, and underground, posing a greater safety hazard. It directly affects people's life and property safety. Therefore, it is important to judge the quality of electrical power cables.

Packaging and appearance quality of electrical power cables

Regular enterprises producing electrical power cables that meet international standards pay attention to product packaging. Check whether the packaging is sturdy, the printing is clear, and whether the model specifications, factory name, and address are complete. Check whether the power cable has a smooth and uniform appearance. In order to improve product quality and ensure that products meet standard requirements, power cable manufacturers that meet standard requirements strictly control raw material procurement, production equipment, and production processes. Therefore, the appearance of the produced power cable products meets the standard requirements, with a smooth and uniform appearance. Poor quality products have rough appearance, large ellipticity, low insulation strength of the sheath, and can often be torn by hand.

Conductor quality of electrical power cables

Whether the conductor has luster, whether the DC resistance and conductor structural size meet the standard requirements. Power cable products that meet the standard requirements, whether made of aluminum or copper conductors, are relatively bright, free of oil stains, and have DC resistance that fully meets the standards, and have good conductivity and high safety. When checking, simply remove the wirehead by 2cm, then rub the copper core gently on a white paper. If black substance appears on the white paper, it means that the copper core has more impurities.

Quality of insulation layer and inner/outer diameter of electrical power cables

Firstly, twist the insulation skin by hand. If it fades or rubs off, it must be of poor quality. Poor quality insulation layer materials will break after being twisted 3-4 times. In addition, counterfeit power cables have a thick-looking insulation layer that is often made of recycled plastics, which will age and leak electricity over time. Finally, ignite the insulation layer with fire. If it can self-ignite after leaving the open flame, it must be a poor quality cable. By referring to the corresponding international standards, measure the outer diameter and core inner diameter of the power cable. If the measured values are significantly higher than the allowable error, it is basically a poor quality power cable.
