How to choose flame retardant cables for home decoration?

Low-quality electrical wire and cable products have always existed, but due to price differences, non-standard cable products have been active in the market. Therefore, we should have the ability to identify the quality of wires and cables, and here we recommend that everyone learn more about the basic knowledge of wire products.

I. Understanding of Flame-retardant Cables

In recent years, the high safety factor of flame-retardant cables has made them a popular choice among many users. Flame-retardant cables are improved from ordinary wires and cables and represent a safety technology revolution. The production process and requirements for raw materials are very high. The high ignition point of flame-retardant cables is mainly due to the outer protective layer, which uses flame-retardant materials, and there are also flame-retardant components inside, making them have good high flame-retardant performance.

II. Considerations for Choosing Flame-retardant Cables

Generally, the length of one roll of wire is 100 meters, with a tolerance of 0.5 meters, which can be cut and used at will to meet the needs of some users who need to purchase a small amount.

  1. The insulation and sheath of flame-retardant cables should have obvious flexibility and scalability, with a tight and smooth surface, clear qualified certificates, and manufacturer logos.

  2. Whether the flame-retardant cable has a flame-retardant insulation layer, the insulation layer should have uniform thickness, no eccentricity, and tightly wrapped around the conductor of the wire. The insulation layer should also have length marks, manufacturer names, rated voltage, production date, and other marks.

  3. The certificate should clearly indicate the manufacturer's name, address, after-sales hotline, model specifications, rated voltage, length, inspector number, production date, certification logo, anti-counterfeiting verification logo, etc.

  4. The conductor wire core is purple-red, with a bright, smooth, flat, soft, and tightly twisted surface, not easy to break, and should not have burrs or black conductors.

III. Common Specifications for Flame-retardant Cables in Home Decoration

The commonly used specifications for flame-retardant cables in home decoration are 1 square/1.5 square/2.5 square/4 square/6 square/10 square, etc. The single-core wire BV2.5 square wire is generally used for sockets, and the single-core wire BV4 square wire is used for air conditioners above 3 horsepower, with three rolls in a group (used for neutral line, live wire, and ground wire) in different colors. The single-core wire BV1.5 square wire is used for lighting fixtures, with two rolls in a group of different colors (used for neutral line and live wire). The single-core wire BV6 square wire is used for the main power supply. The live wire is generally yellow, green, or red, the neutral line is blue, and the ground wire can be a yellow-green two-color wire. Two-core and three-core sheathed wires are used for exposed wiring and are often used for construction on construction sites. They are not commonly used for flame-retardant cables in home decoration, and the 2.5-square three-core sheathed wire can be used for cabinet-type air conditioners.
