How to Choose PVC Insulated Cable?
The polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic used in PVC insulated cables is made of polyvinyl chloride resin as the main raw material, with various kinds of additives, such as plasticizer, stabilizer, filler, etc. added according to the different use requirements of various cables, through mixing plasticizing and granulation. PVC plastics have excellent mechanical properties, good chemical corrosion resistance, weather resistance and aging performance, does not delay burning with certain electrical insulation performance and good processing performance, and have low cost, so it is widely used as cable insulation and sheath material. Today we will share with you how to choose PVC insulated cables.
I. Look at the packaging. Formal PVC insulated cable packaging will be printed with the pvc wire manufacturer, address, inspection seal and production date. If not, most of them are inferior products.
II. Look at the wire skin. See whether the line surface is printed with trademark, specification, voltage and other parameter information. If not, most of them are inferior products. See whether the color of the wire skin is bright and shiny. If the wire skin is dull and lackluster, the material of the wire sheath is recycled, which will affect the service life of PVC cable. See whether the thickness of the wire skin is even. If not, the thin area is easy to be broken through by electricity, which may lead to electric shock or fire.
III. Look at the copper core. See the color and gloss of the cross-section of the cable copper core. The color of high quality copper core is bright and soft, and the copper core is red in yellow, with high conductivity and long service life. Inferior copper core is white in yellow, with low conductivity and relatively short service life. See the thickness of the copper core. The copper core thickness of high-quality wires is close to the nominal cross-section, and the core is centered. The thicker the copper core, the higher the conductivity and the better the product quality.
IV. Touch the PVC insulated cable. Take a PVC insulated cable and repeatedly bend with the hand. The PVC material with soft hand feel, good anti-fatigue strength, flexible plastic or rubber handle and no crack on the wire insulator is excellent. On the contrary, it is inferior PVC material, and wire with low-quality PVC material have potential safety hazards such as fire and leakage.
