The Difference Between Environmental Protection Cable and Low Smoke Halogen Free Cable

In many places in key projects, such as fire protection, monitoring, alarm and other places, low smoke halogen free cables are used. Usually people call them environmental protection cables. In fact, environmental protection cables do not refer to low smoke halogen free cables.

1. Learn about the low smoke halogen free cable

The characteristics of low smoke halogen free cables are that they not only have good flame retardant properties, but also contain no halogens that constitute the materials of low smoke halogen free cables. They are less corrosive and toxic when burning, and produce a very small amount of smoke, thereby the damage to personnel, instruments and equipment is reduced, which is conducive to timely rescue in case of fire, although it has good flame retardancy, corrosion resistance and very little smoke concentration.

2. The difference between environmental protection cable and low smoke halogen free cable

1) High flame retardancy: The low smoke halogen free cable fully guarantees its high building requirements for fire protection. The cable is not easy to burn during a fire, and can prevent the spread of flames and the expansion of disasters after combustion.

2) Low toxin: The insulation and sheath do not contain lead, cadmium and other heavy metals that are harmful to the human body. When the low smoke halogen free cable is used and disposed of, it will not pollute the soil and water sources. And after harsh toxicity experiments, the mice were safe and sound under the prescribed experimental conditions.

3) Halogen-free: The low smoke halogen free cable adopts green environmental protection insulation layer, sheath and special oxygen barrier material, which not only has good electrical properties and physical and mechanical properties, but also ensures that the product does not contain halogen, solves the "secondary pollution" formed during combustion, and avoids the carcinogenic "dioxin" substances produced during the combustion of traditional PVC wires.

4) No corrosive gas is produced: The new special coating material that is non-polluting to the environment is adopted, no gas such as HCL will be generated during production, use and combustion, and the emission of acid gas is very small, and the damage to personnel, equipment and instruments is small, and it is more environmentally friendly.

5) Waterproof and anti-ultraviolet: The environmental protection cable adopts green environmental protection material with special molecular structure to ensure ultra-low water absorption and special ultraviolet absorber, so that the cable product has good anti-ultraviolet function. It ensures the safety of the cable and prolongs the service life.

6) High light transmittance: The smoke generated when the low smoke halogen free cable is burned is extremely thin, which is conducive to the evacuation of personnel and the fire-fighting work. The light transmittance of the product is more than 40%, which is much higher than the standard of less than 20% light transmittance of traditional flame retardant cables.
